Suppose you find a rock comprised mostly of decayed plant material? What type of rock have you found?

As an aside, rocks that are comprised primarily of organic material are called "coals." Coals are generally the product of stagnant, back-water swamps where lots of stuff is falling into the water and sinking/rotting and piling up. Mmm.
